Degraded Channel and Riparian Areas
Degraded Channel Structure and Complexity
The lower 1.5 miles of Johnson Creek provides valuable cold water habitat to salmon, steelhead and lamprey that use Johnson Creek and upper Willamette River fish that temporarily seek thermal refuge during the late spring and early summer when the mainstem Willamette gets too warm. Habitat enhancement that creates resting pools and log structures for cover is a high priority for the Council, and this project seeks to build upon recently completed work at river mile 0.5, and previously completed work at the confluence of Johnson Creek with the Willamette. We are proposing large wood habitat enhancement between river mile 0.6 and 0.8 of Johnson Creek.
